1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came or were you expecting it?
I got the expected marks, but I didn't expect state rank.

2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I started my preparations for the 12th standard public examination from Feb-2006.

3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
My school provided enough teaching, coaching and materials that would boost the students to higher levels. I didn't take any special watching. I followed my school directives.

4. For how many hours per day did you study?
I studied approximately 5 hours per day.

5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
My school working days were tight scheduled. In the evenings, first I would skim through that day lessons. Then I would start to prepare for the next day's evening tests. In the morning I would prepare for next day's morning test. In between these I would spend half an hour of that with my friends.

6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
My school holidays were enjoyable. It would be too late to get up in the mornings. I would study from ten'o lock to 12.30. After my lunch I would discuss about subjects with my friends. Then an hour of sleeping (2.30 to 3.30). Again I would start to study from 4.30 to 6.30. After dinner I would I would pay chess or carrom.

7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
We, the students are in a situation to give more weightage to Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Maths than language and English papers. So I approached the subjects little differently as I was also in the same situation.

8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for -
a. Language (Tamil) Paper

For language papers leistering lessons sincerely is very important. It appeared more difficult to me to remember the poems. For this we have to know the meanings of all the words in the poem. We should understand the message of the poem first. During exams I prepared poetry first and prose next. I prepared part by part as per question paper model.

b. English Paper

For English paper, we should give quotes in between the paras of an essay. For grammar and other parts read the book line by line. There is no need for guides and other workbooks. In English paper, presentation is more important. It may boost up your marks. Prepare your own essays.

c. Physics Paper

For physics, I prepared ten mark questions first and then five marks. For three marks, read the topics having three or six points more carefully and also comparisons. In problems, you must mention the unit of a quantity. In questions related to magnetic and electric fields mention the direction without fail. Memories the formulae to keep them at your finger tips. Don't leave any topic, atleast skim through it. It wire be helpful for one marks.

d. Chemistry Paper

In chemistry more reading and memorising is not enough. Here it is more important to write the equations (Chemical) repeatedly. Note down the exceptions separately. You have to compare the equations and even lessons. Out of three parts in the syllabus, prepare organic chemistry thoroughly. Then give more importance to p, d, f-block elements. In problems, we must be careful in calculating log varies. These values should be present as rough work in the answer sheet. Manage the time.

e. Mathematics Paper

For maths paper, go through the concepts and formulas first. Then work out each problem atleast two times. Then at the third time you wire be the master. In exams, don't skip any step eventhough it is easier. Don't make carcless mistakes. After completing your answers check them atleast twice. Draw necessary diagrams for 6 and 10 marks. Don't forget it.

f. Biology Paper

In Biology, don't write your own words. Follow the bookwords without any change. Practice free hard diagrams atleast twice. Don't miss even a point in the exams.

9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
There is no need to carve the letters in paper. We should give more importance to legibility. I think speedy handwriting is more important along with clearance. Some students may feel difficult to change their handwriting. But they can improve their speed of writing by regular practice, since 'practice only makes us perfect.

10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Concentration is more important. Students must measure their potentialities. They should fix an aim in their mind. Then the students should have good and pure thoughts.

Don't have negative attitudes. Students can acheive anything by sincere and disciplined hardwork.

If the students strictly follow "Do's", there is no need to think about "Don'ts".
11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
My school might identify me as a state rank holder early. Our school provided the best coaching to all their students. if was want to ride a motorcycle very fastly in the nigh. we need powerful headlight to show our way. In the same way, my teachers like a headlight provided the paths to improve me. In my school, out management never changed their schedules. Their systematic approach led us to victory.

12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents and brother wished to see me at a better position in the education than them. They activated me with this thought from childhood days. Their encouraging and persuasive applauds gave me an immense level of confidence during examinations.

13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
After hearing this achievement, my happiness knew no leaps and bounds. I could not talk for few seconds. After some hours, my brain gave a thought to me that I shouldn't to contented with this and that I should reach many more success.

14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
During exam preparations, I focused only on studies. My time was scheduled tightly to recall the topics.

15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
All congratulations are cheering me to achieve more. I am thankful to all the soft-hearts.

16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
I would like to thank my parents, brother and teachers, then my school.

17. Tell us about your family.
Both my father and mother are educators. My brothers is an Engineer, understanding is the root my family. We are all Tamil - lovers.

18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
"The rent for our room in the earth is the service which we render to others". So I decided to pursue my career as a (non-commercial) doctor (M.B.B.S.).

19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
Learn from your mistakes in school exams. Try to correct them. Never loose your confidence. Don't fall for fame and don't feel for dissuades. Be interested in your studies and be a disciplined student. If you want to jump a long distance, you have to run a very long distance. Similarly, put your mind by watching TV. Play for sometime (1/2 hours) for relaxation.
