1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it any way?
Thank you. As I expected State Rank, it was not a surprise to me when it came.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I started my preparations for the 12th standard public exams in the middle of 11th standard.
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
My school has good and experienced teachers. They would clear my doubts at any time during exams. My school has provided excellent materials for all subjects, so I did not take any special coaching for any of the subjects.
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
Apart from school hours (i.e. from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm), I studied for about 5 hours a day.
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
My school starts at 9:15 am and ends at 7:00 pm. With proper relaxation time, I would study for 2 hours in the evening and 3 hours in the early morning.
6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
Mostly there would be no holiday. We had classes during Sundays also. Rarely, I got holidays. During holidays, I would wake up at 6:00 am and spent the whole day for studying my lessons especially languages. I spent my school days for studying subjects and in holidays, I concentrated more on language papers.
7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
I have prepared for achieving state rank. I gave importance to all the subjects including languages.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for

anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Good handwriting is essential for language papers. Good handwriting and writing speedily are needed to score high marks in all the subjects. These two can be improved by regular practice.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Dos
a. Always maintain good health b. Concentrate every subject in the class c. Try to understand the concepts d. Utilise your time perfectly e. Put your maximum effort to achieve your goal Donts (1) Don’t waste time (2) Don’t skip the steps in problems and derivations especially in Physics and Chemistry as there are marks for some steps (3) Don’t take leave unnecessarily 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
Yes, my school identified some 20 students including me as a prospective state rank holders. Many special tests were given to us in all the subjects. Choosing a good school which maintains state rank records will help in securing good marks.
12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents gave me full support and confidence in achieving my goal. My father is a graduate in Mathematics. So he cleared all my doubts in Maths. They did not disturb me during my studies.
13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
My school informed me about my achievement. As I expected State rank, it was not a surprise. But it was a happy and memorable event to me and my family.
14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
No, I did not have any time to play or to pursue my hobby during my preparation for the exam. When I felt tired by continuous study, I went for a relaxing walk during the evenings.
15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
When the results were released, I was immediately exposed to media interviews. It was a very pleasant experience. My school administrators, teachers, friends, relatives and family members congratulated me. The District Collector felicitated me. Some organizations also congratulated me.
16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
First, I have to thank my family members who guided me well. Then I have to thank my school teachers, directors, friends and relatives who gave me confidence. I wish to remember and thank my previous class teachers and previous school teachers who often encouraged me. Above all, I should thank God as it is a gift of God.
17. Tell us about your family.
My father Mr.S.Sridharan is working as a Junior Telecom Officer in BSNL. My mother Mrs. S. Premalatha is a homemaker. My brother S.Jawahar has completed his X Standard.
18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I have chosen ECE/EEE.
19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
(1) Understand the concepts well and then learn
(2) Be attentive in the class (3) Plan your works and do it properly (4) Improve your presentation by repeated practice (5) Hard work and dedication are essential to achieve your goal |
