1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it?
I was expecting a district rank but when I heard my rank from my school principal it was both a great suspires as well as joy.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I started preparing for 12th exams only half way after my 11th standard. We were taught the basics in 11th so that the syllabus of 12th seemed to be easy.
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
It was sufficient enough. MY school teachers gave us special exams & we were made masters in each & every topic.
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
How many hours we study doesn’t matter. It is the amount of time that we study with concentration matters. I used to study 5 am to 8 am of the 7 pm to 10.30 pm.
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
School timings - 9 am to 5 pm
After 5 pm we had tuition hours for 2 hours from 5 - 7 pm. 6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
In 12th standard, we had special classes on sundays till 12 noon. Then they would allow us to watch T.V. 1 play for a while. Only studies will not make u a perfect being so we had extra curricular activities too.
7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
Even the language papers were concentrated by me. When you aim for a state rank it doesn't matter whether English /Maths, Every subject has to he read with same dedication & devotion.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for
-
a. Language (Tamil) Paper
--- b. English Paper --- c. Physics Paper Try to draw the figures & practice of work out the problems which would help u a lot. d. Chemistry Paper Chemical equations has to be written & practices regularly to avoid simple mistakes. e. Mathematics Paper As u all know, maths can't be worked without a paper & pen. So whenever we work out Maths it should not be done in air, it has to be worked out in paper. That was my habit. f. Computer Science Paper I used to work out a lot No of C++ programs. 9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there
anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Yes, definitely handwriting plays a vital role. It should be legible & neat without any overwriting & unnecessary striking in the paper. Same way you have to get to the practice of allotting time equally to all divisions according to the marks for each division. Working out problems will definitely fetch you marks & save a lot of time at exams.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Do's:
Recollecting what you have studied the previous day for attests 15 mts to 30 mts in the early hours of morning will help u to retain it for longer time. Finish the portions taught for u on the same day. Don'ts: Never postpone anything for anybody to the next day u will never find time to complete those portions. 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
Yes & we around 100 students were given special exams. Even the choice of a school is very important. Experienced & dedicated teacher, good infrastructure, good atmosphere, clean environment & above all less pressure on the students will make us achieve greater limits in life.
12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
This achievement in my life would have not occurred without the support, advise & prayers of my parents & sisters & my whole family. When I was really expecting a state rank in my 10th exams & when I did not achieve it, I was totally shattered ; it was because of my family's constant support & their belief on me has made me achieve this now.
