This is the only achievement (State 1st), but I have participated in many competitions
1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it any way?
Yes, it was a real surprise for me when results came. I expected maximum marks in each and every subject, but
I didn't expect state first rank.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I had started my preparations only in the twelfth standard. In my school, they always teach 12th syllabus only
in the respective year. I didn't start preparing for 12th in 11th standard.
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
In this aspect, I was very lucky because we have got experienced teachers in our school. So the materials provided
by my school teachers were very sufficient.
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
In the evening, I would study for 3.5 hours. In the morning, would study for 2.5 hours.
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
School would start at 9:30 am and it will close at 5:30 pm. Maxmimum there will be atleast 10 minutes free time at the
end of each period. I will will prepare in that time.
6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
Usually there won't be school on Sundays. On Saturdays, there will be special classes. There won't be school
on government holidays. I would use that holidays for studying.
7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
I didn't have different views for the subjects. I would prepare for the subjects and languages with same concern.
Since I got low marks in English in my 10th, I gave more importance to English in my 12th.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for
-
a. Language (Tamil) Paper
--- b. English Paper --- c. Physics Paper --- d. Chemistry Paper --- e. Mathematics Paper --- f. Biology Paper --- 9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there
anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Yes, handwriting and learning to write speedily plays major role in languages and core subjects respectively.
To improve handwriting, we should try to write neatly all the time and for writing speedily, we should practice
in the exams.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Yes, we should take healthy foods because our health is very important and we should have more concentration and then
we should recall what we have studied already.
We should not divert our mind to other entertainments for many hours but we can take 10 minutes rest for every 45 minutes. One important thing is that we should not waste time. I go with the proverb Time is Gold. Once it is lost, we can't do anything. 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
I had shown improvement in the following exams like quarterly, half yearly etc. So my school encouraged
me like anything to get state rank. They selected nearly ten students and they gave advice but there was equal
coaching for all students.
12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
They played important role in my preparations. My sister, mother and father gave lot of advice at the time of
exams. My relatives also gave more advice at the time of public exams. They knew my needs and they have given
me lot of freedom.
13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
I went to my school to see my result. My teachers informed that I had got state 1st in 12th public. I was very
excited to hear that. I felt very happy.
14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
I used to have some fun and games in other exams, but I have controlled myself and I did not pursue any hobby at
the time of public exam.
15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
Sure. As soon as the results were published, several media people had surrounded me for interview. That was a nice
experience. Several VIPs arrived at my home on the same day itself; MLA, SP etc. These high officials came to my
home to give reward. They congratulated me on my success. I went to meet the CM with my parents. This is the first
time I had ever seen our CM.
16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
Yes, my parents, teachers, principal and especially my friends. There are many friends for me.I like to thank
my parents, teachers, my friends Shiva Pragash, Dhiavaakar, Aravind Gandhi, Ajay Saran, Aravindh, Gopinath,
Arun and so many.
17. Tell us about your family.
My family was so cooperative, encouraging, lovable and care taking. There are no words to explain about my
family. That much importance they gave for me.
18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I have chosen MBBS as my course after 12th. After finishing MBBS, I would like to do MS in Cardiology.
19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
My only advise to the students is that study with a plan. Merely planning will not give success, execution is
very important. If they plan and execute, well then success will be theirs.
Hope this interview will be useful for all the students who are going to face their crucial period with non stopping examinations and public exams. Thank you for your kind interview for giving (me an opportunity to provide) beneficial notes and tips to the students. |
