1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it any way?
Thankyou very much. I was not confident on getting the state rank, but I expected it little. And of
course, it was a great surprise to me.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
My 12th standard syllabus was started in the middle of 11th standard. And I started my preparations
for exams only after 11th std board exams.
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
Yes, my school provided surplus materials. That was more than enough. so, I didn't take any special
coaching.
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
Other than the school hours, I studied 5 hours per day.
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
My school starts at 9:00 am and we have regular classes and a slip test each day and our classes end at 7:00 pm.
6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
In the holidays, I would revise my subjects in the morning and evening. At noon time, I would take
rest or play with my friends.
7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
Every subject needs different preparation to score high marks.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for
-
a. Language (Tamil) Paper
For I paper, I mentioned many poem lines and I wrote many tests to improve my presentation. And we had many 1 mark tests. For II paper, especially for Nayam parattal and Thunaipadam, repeated practise is must. I quoted many sayings in the middle of the stories. That makes our answer sheet somewhat neat and different from others. b. English Paper For English, I referred 4 to 5 guides. And I had repeated tests in grammar. Neat presentations without grammatical mistakes helps to get high marks in essays and paragraphs. Reading newspapers helps to enrich your general essays. c. Physics Paper Regarding Physics, first we must understand the concept clearly. To get full marks in 1 mark questions, we must read each and every line in all the lessons. To remember the numerical data units, I prepared a separate table and it was very useful to me. d. Chemistry Paper Regarding Chemistry, reactions must be clearly studied. Comparative study is needed. Repeated revision is a must. While writing exams, questions must be read fully and clearly. e. Mathematics Paper Maths was my favourite subject and I was good at that. So I just remember the formulas and practise a sum for a model. First understanding the steps and solving the sums is enough for getting full marks in Maths. f. Biology Clear study is needed for Biology. Especially for 1 marks, I studied each and every word in the text book. Compared to other subjects, I spent more time for Zoology. Revision is more important to remember the chronological studies. 9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there
anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Handwriting is more important for language and English papers. One can improve the handwriting and presentation
through repeated tests and practices. Speedy writing is needed for complete perfection.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Do's:
* Always have faith in God * Maintain a good health * Meditation helps to improve your concentration * Always follow your teacher's words Don'ts: * Don't waste your time on silly things * Avoiding watching TV, using mobile phones * Avoid eating junk food * Don't loose your hope at any time 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
Yes my school expected me to get a state rank and gave special coaching in language and English papers. Without
good teaching and support of teachers and school management, a student cannot score high marks. So, the choice of
school is more important.
12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents, all my relatives and family friends had more confidence on me. They all prayed for me and encouraged me
a lot. My parents took a special care on my health.
13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
I learned it from the school management. And at once, I felt really happy. I think I was the happiest girl in the
world.
14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
No, I didn't have any time to play. But just for relaxation, I would talk with my friends.
15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
Yes, I received many congratulatory messages and gifts. I was continuously attending the phone calls and many
relatives and friends came to my house. On the day of the result itself, we met the district collector and I was
so proud to receive a gift from her. More than me, my father and my mother were so happy.
16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
First, I must thank God. Next, my parents, relatives, family friends, subject teachers, school directors, well
wishers who all motivated me.
17. Tell us about your family.
My father Mr.M.Panjalingam is a lab technician. My mother P.Loganayaki is a home maker. I am a only daughter.
My family is a small and sweet family. My parents are very soft and I love them very much.
18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I have chosen MBBS to pursue and it is my life's dream.
19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
Public exam is the turning point in your life. Enjoy the subject and work hard to your maximum level. Try to bring
a good name to your parents. My best wishes!
