1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it any way?
I was expecting for the state first. Unfortunately I missed it by 3 marks. Yet I feel very
proud that I've achieved a better one.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I confess that I started preparing for the 12th standard public examinations during the 11th
standard itself. But only after the portions of the 11th standard is completedly covered
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
The teaching and materials provided by the school was sufficient enough for me. But sometimes
I would feel that I had to prepare somewhat more. Even then I would consult other teachers of same subject and get
more ideas than needed for my preparation
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
On average, I studied 4 hours per day. Sometimes I would study a little time extra
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
Working days were like sweets. Everyday I would allot my schedule different according to the
situation. I enjoyed going to school as I could know more and more. I love knowing new things.
6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
During the holidays, I missed my friends with whom I would share everything right from the
knowledge we gained to the food, as how I miss them now.
I would allot my time to go out to accompany my mother's work. Then after returning to home I would do my home works I was given. 7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
I prepared for every subjects in a different way. And now I'm happy to share that with you.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for
-
a. Language (Tamil) Paper
Language paper is to check our wealth of mother tongue. I listened to the teacher keenly and got the central theme of every topic. I read those topics once again. Then I used my own knowledge and presented a different answer than the other students every time. Though the same question was repeated for the consequent exams conducted by our school, my answers would be in a different style each time. b. English Paper I love learning English though I ain't rich in it. While my friends crammed the answers furnished in the Guides, I prepared the answers of my own. The teachers too encouraged it sometimes. I'd commit some mistakes which they would correct with care. c. Physics Paper For Physics, I prepared very carefully. Because even I missed a single point, there would be a lack of continuity. I read every topic thrice or four times or even several times until I was obvious in it. d. Chemistry Paper In Chemistry, partly the portions are like story and the rest (Organic) are like mathematics. If we approach it with interest, it will become itsy-bitsy. I always asked my Chemistry teacher a lot of doubts on it since that topic was new for me. e. Mathematics Paper I worked out every sums keenly. At the initial stage, I was given enough time to work out all the problems. And that helped me a lot. For me, solving a mathematical problem is like tasting the honey. f. Biology For Biology, I followed the same way as how I followed in Physics. 9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there
anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Handwriting does not matter, but learning to write speedily matters. Because answering all the questions within
3 hours is rather difficult. To avoid this difficulty, one should take a constant practise of writing. Writing many home
tests can provide a solution to this.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Do's:
1. Be precise and precis while preparing for the exam. Leave no stones unturned. 2. Concentrate on health. 3. Attend the classes regularly. Dont's: 1. Don't lose heart with other's contempted words. 2. Don't hesitate to ask your doubts. 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
1. My school identified me and a couple of students as prospective state rank holders early. They always set us
the so called "the toughest questions". I made use of them.
2. Choice of a school in achieving high marks doesn't matter whereas the efficiency of the teachers in it matters. They should be capable of making the students know every topic. 12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents left some things which the other parents actually enjoy. Just like watching TV.
They never disturbed me. They let me do what I wished. No restrictions! No controls! My brothers were too supportive. They advised me that I could get the thing which I lost in 10th. 13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
I was informed that I secured 1187 marks and got District 1st in the early morning of May 9th. When we were on the
way to CEO office, I was informed that I'm the State second rank holder. I was on the cloud nine then.
14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
Absolutely not. But if I felt tried while preparing for the public examination, I would just relax myself
for somewhile.
15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
Of course! We have 3 mobile phones and I receive lot of calls, Congratulations in all the three cells without
rest. Infact, I'm tired of answering them. I can't even spend time with my beloved friends and nephew and niece
who have come to my home for their holidays.
16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
I'd like to thank all those who stand by my achievement.
I consider all of them the special people. 17. Tell us about your family.
Mine is a middle class family. My dad is an accountant in the Co-operative marketing society. My mom is a domestic
engineer (homemaker). She sells clothes for women. Both of my brothers are taking training of engineer.
18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I've chosen MBBS to pursue after my twelfth standard. In future, I will do some researches if possible.
19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
Hi students! Everyone of you can get high marks in your examinations. You should know how you can reach it.
You got to design on own way and follow it. Seek the way, you should find it.
