Other achievements:
1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came or were you expecting it any way?
Thanks a lot. Actually I was expecting a district level rank. I was really surprised when I heard that I hold the third place in the State. I am grateful to the Almighty for bestowing this on me.

2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I started my preparations only during 12th standard. Many schools used to omit 11th standard. But in my school, they gave importance to 11th standard too. It is the basic for 12th.

3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
I didn't go for any coaching other than my school. In the school, we had repeated exams, daily tests, question paper discussion, coaching from efficient professors. It was more than sufficient.

4. For how many hours per day did you study?
I used to study till 10:30 during night and start my preparations from 4:30 in the morning and end up at 7am.

5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
We used to take up a test daily. But from the month of October, our school planned for mega revision. In that we will take up 4 tests with preparation time.

6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
During holidays, I used to take up tests on my own under the guidance of my parents. My time allotment varies accordingly in the school's schedule for the next day.

7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
My preparation varies according to the subject. In my school, equal concentration was given to language papers too and that helped to bag the state third rank.

8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for -
a. Language (Tamil) Paper

In case of language, hand writing plays a vital role. I studied all the poems in my Tamil book and presented them as quotations for the related questions. My teachers advised to write creatively in case of language and that too helped to fetch marks.

b. English Paper

Regarding English, I read the entire test book. I took care to give the relevant answer and not build stories. I was cautious about the presentation too. I never ignored English and Tamil as they count for our total.

c. Physics Paper

In case of Physics, I used to read the entire text and took care not to omit even a single word that word may be asked as a one word. I practised circuit diagrams repeatedly where I may go wrong. I used to recall the laws and definitions often which we have to write as it is in the text book. I worked out all the problems in the text book.

d. Chemistry Paper

Equations play a very important role in case of Chemistry. Whenever I prepare for Chemistry, I will have a rough note with me where I will write all the equations. I consolidated all the important temperateure, key words, catalyst in a separate not. I used to go through it before the exams and that helped me a lot.

e. Mathematics Paper

In case of Mathematics, it is important to workout all the problems not once or twice but till we get familiarised with that problem. Like Chemistry, I consolidated all the formulas in Mathematics. I paid more attention to one words too.

f. Biology

I was very conscious about biology as it is very important for those who aspire to become doctors. I wrote a lot of exams in biology to assess my time management. I practised all the diagrams and decided the colours for each and every diagram from the beginning itself.

9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Both the aspects are very important. Repeated exams is my first suggestion. Only that helped me to finish all the exams within 2.5 hours and carefully revise it in the remaining half an hour.

10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Concentrate only in studies without minding the distractions. Just don't get depressed when you are degraded by someone. Keep on working hard. Please dont omit anything. Be wise in choosing the questions. Plan your time well. Keep your mind fixed while preparing for any subject. Place yourself in a comfortable place which is free from noise, chattings etc. Have a healthy diet and avoid unhygienic food. Take care of your health.

11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
My school gave extraordinary coaching for each and every student. They wish that all the students must go on to a good government college on merit. A school must help even a weak student to fetch more marks.

12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents gave their full support for me. They never forced me to attend any family function. They have never discouraged me in any occasion. I used to recite the answers to my younger sister. She conducted many one word tests for me. My dad sowed the idea of becoming doctor When I was too young. My uncle is a doctor in Coimbatore. He presented me a stethoscope and that inspired me a lot.

13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
When I was eagerly awaiting my results, at 8:40, there was a call from my school. They informed the total and said that I may be a district topper and told me to come to school. On our way to School, my uncle called and told that I got the State Third Rank. My joy knew no bounds.

14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
No I focussed my mind only in studies. And there was no time too. I used to hear music to relax myself when I am free.

15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
My neighbours came to my home and congratulated me with presents. I just dont have words to express the moment when I got award from the Collector. Even the persons whome I dont know recognise me and say their wishes. I am happy to see my family proud.

16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
I wish to express my thanks to the Principal, all my teachers, family, parents and friends.

17. Tell us about your family.
My father V.Dhanushkodi works as an Assistant Professor in Sri Kumar Gurubarar Arts College, Srivaikundam. My mother S.Vijaya Janaki works as a lecturer in Scad Polytechnic College, Cheranmahadevi. My sister D Divya Venkateshwari has completed 7th standard in the same school of mine.

18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I wish to do MBBS course.

19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
Fix your goal and walk towards it with determination and self confidence unminding the hurdles that come in your way. Even the word impossible says that I am possible. So just have a positive approach towards each and every matters you face in your life and obviously success is yours.
