1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came
or were you expecting it any way?
Yes, I was expecting State I. I was little disappointed when I lost state I an II, but still am happy with my
state III rank. And also I was really happy when I came to know that I got centum in Maths, Physics, Chemistry
and Computer Science as well as state II rank in each subject.
2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in
the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
My school started the 12th standard preparations only in 12th standard. But on my own interest, I started the
preparations in the eleventh vacation itself. That helped me much in 12th standard.
3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you
take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
The teaching and materials provided by the school was sufficient for me.
4. For how many hours per day did you study?
During holidays, I used to study for 14 hours. But daily I used to study for 6-7 hours.
5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
It was little hard to cross each working day because of work load. But still I enjoyed it. And I would allot 1.5 hours
for each main subject daily, some hours for language during weekends.
6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your
work?
My school holiday, i.e. weekend, would be tight because I had to complete all the portions covered during weekdays.
7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry,
Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
My approach to Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science would be same. Because these subjects need extra
effort. But still I concentrated more on language and English.
8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for
-
a. Language (Tamil) Paper
I would spend early morning time for language because I should memorise more poems. b. English Paper It was fun learning English. I used to prepare essays on my own, write some quotations and present my paper neatly. c. Physics Paper I used to concentrate more on one words and problems. d. Chemistry Paper Learning organic chemistry was very interesting as it includes more equations. So I concentrated more on such equations. thus organic chemistry became my favourite subject. e. Mathematics Paper Regarding Maths, I worked out many problems and got a thorough knowledge on it. f. Computer Science I concentrated more on one words as this paper includes 75 one words. 9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there
anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Handwriting is much important for language and English paper. Learning to write speedily is very necessary as it
gains time so that we may have time for checking. To improve this we should write more tests.
10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
A student should be God fearing, sincere and should have self control. He should not be over confident. He should
never neglect any portions. He should be thorough page by page. He should
* Listen carefully to the teachers * Respect parents * Avoid tension * Work hard * Clarify doubts * Understand and learn * Avoid all sorts of entertainment during exam time * Be dedicated and sincere 11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
I had been learning in this school since my LKG class. My school shaped my character, my curricular and co-curricular
talent and my deeds. I was a topper in my school in every aspect. All my teachers, headmaster and even my classmates
expected that I would get state rank. And that came true.
12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents encouraged me right from my KG classes. They explained the importance of education and guided me. They
made me the best in curricular and co-curricular activities. They gave me a greate moral support in 10th and 12th
standard. They created a very good environment for me to learn. I am very grateful and thankful to them.
13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
I was very confident that I would get state rank and so I was watching TV news to see my name. As I expected,
Mrs.Vasanthi Jeevanantham read out my name. I jumped out of joy. Everyone started congratulating me.
14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
Mo, I was concentrating only in studies during 12th standard.
15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
Yes, I was busy nearly for a week. Wherever I go, people identified me and congratulated me. My relatives even
from Dubai, USA, Singapore saw me on TV and wished me. I got great honour from everyone. I am really very happy.
16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
First I thank God. Then my parents, headmaster - Mr.Raghuveeran, teachers and the people who wished me that I
would get state rank.
17. Tell us about your family.
My father is an Operation Engineer in TAC, my mother is a homemaker and my sister Roshini C.Pradeep has just
completed 10th standard. She secured 481 marks.
18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I have chosen ECE in Anna University. I would like to become a scientist in ISRO.
19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
Be God fearing, sincere. Do the best and God will see the rest.
