Indian Institute of Technology Madras is of the top ranker Institute among the 23 IITs. Right now it is ranking on 1^st position according to NIRF 2020 ranking details. IIT Madras (Chennai) was established in 1961 and located in South Chennai. That’s the reason it's called also IIT Chennai.

It has around 8000 + students' strength. IIT Madras has also a good number of administrative staff along with the 500 plus faculty members. The IIT Madras has spread about 250 hectares in beautiful wooden land. The institutes have 16 academic departments and numbers of advanced research centers in different disciplines of engineering and pure science, with nearly 100 laboratories.

Schools

There are two schools located inside the campus, viz. Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT, located between GC and the IITM Post Office and Vanavani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, located within the residential zone.

Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT follows the syllabus prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and comes under the purview of the Central Government of India. The school admits students for Std I to XII.

IIT Madras Hostel

IIT Madras is a residential institute and provides accommodation to students in the hostels. There are 19 hostels, all named after the mighty rivers of India. Of the hostels, 4 are for girls and 15 are for boys.

Hostel facilities include a garden and a library from which students can borrow books. Every hostel has washing machines, fully equipped sports facilities, music rooms, tech rooms, and television rooms. Most hostel-level meetings take place in common rooms. The students celebrate festivals such as Holi, Pongal, Onam, Diwali, and New Year’s Eve. The hostel night is organized annually by each hostel, where the entire hostel celebrates with food and music. This occasion also commemorates the graduating seniors of that hostel.

IIT Madras B.Tech. Eligibility Criteria

Students must have to complete 10+2 from the recognized board.

The Higher Secondary examination marks must be minimum of 75%.

There will be no preference of 10+2 marks for calculating the ranks in JEE Advanced.

JoSSA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will declare round wise set allocation.

IIT Madras B.Tech. Selection Criteria

Candidates must appear for the JEE score followed by counseling (JoSAA). 

The eligibility of 12^th exam result in minimum 75%, JEE or Architecture Aptitude Test shall be made category-wise and AIR (All India Rank).

Candidates must have to register for the JoSSA counseling process from the JoSSA official website. Candidates have to make a choice filling process at JoSSA counseling. Choice will be in decreasing order.

Based on the cut-off set by IIT Madras, seats will be allocated in the JoSSA counseling process. There are multiple rounds declared by JoSSA. The given details below will help you out to check the previous year cutoff set by IIT Madras.

IIT Madras B.Tech Selection Process

Candidates must have to fill the form for the Choice filling process at JoSSA. The selection process will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced Rank which is conducted by NTA.

The JoSSA will declare the round wise seat allotment for respective institutes. Candidates will gate the seat as per choice filling and seat availability on the basis of eligibility criteria.

The registration of choice filling generally starts in the second or third week of June at online mode.

IIT Madras Placement, Companies and Packages

Indian Institute of Technology Madras has reported high placements area. Last year, in 2020 a total number of 1300 students was taken part in the placement. Students of IITM and the domains like Information Technology, Research, and Development, Analytics, PSU, Engineering was received good packages.

The largest packages noted in Finance, Analytics and the higher package were offered in Computer Science and engineering, it was Rs. 133.05 LAP.

The Department of Management Studies at IIT-M witnessed a 100% placement record where the highest CTC offered was Rs. 29.1 LPA. The highest number of students was recruited by the Information Technology sector from the Analytics, Consulting and the Finance sector.
